Description

Using a Canon 300mm F/4.0 USM.  I am impressed at the lack of chromatic aberration in this lens.  I underestimated the potential for dew last night and lost about an hour of acquisition before I noticed.  Fortunately, I was able to dry everything off with a hair dryer and strap on some dew strips.  The fog rolled in around 1 this morning so when I woke up to check, I lost another hour of acquisitions.  I focused on Venus with a Bahtinov mask and it held all night.  Also, autoguiding turned out to be critical for getting nice round stars.  The SkyGuider can't guide in DEC but it did not seem to make much difference.  I have learned to re-do the polar alignment once I am on the target and that makes a huge difference as well.
